Special Education Services at Nevada Elementary

Special education is specially designed instruction that addresses the unique educational needs of students with disabilities. To be eligible for special education services, a student must have an identified disability that results in educational needs significantly different from those of their same-age peers and requires specialized instruction.

Special education services support students in accessing their educational program, participating in the school community, and making progress toward their individualized goals and California State Standards.

The purpose of Parent Counseling and Training (PCT), as a related service, is to offer parents information on child development, to enhance knowledge and understanding of their child’s special needs, and to assist in acquiring skills to support the implementation of their child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). PCT is prescribed as part of the student’s IEP. PCT is offered every school year and is delivered in English and Spanish.
